The Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders at Fredonia will resume offering support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and family members in the spring semester.
The group will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. in Thompson Hall Room E148 unless otherwise indicated. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16. A typical group meeting includes activities to help stroke and head injury survivors use compensatory strategies to improve communication skills, distribution of educational information and an opportunity to socialize and share experiences. Light refreshments will be provided.
Additional group meetings are scheduled on March 1 and 15, April 5 and 19, and May 3.
The Youngerman Center recognizes that there are individuals in the community whose insurance benefit for therapy has been exhausted but their hopes for improvement have not. More information about attending a group session is available by contacting Julie Williams, coordinator, at 716-673-4618.
