The Fredonia Technology Incubator (FTI) will host the finals of its second annual Student Business Competition powered by AT&T on April 19 at 3 p.m.
Seven student businesses have been chosen and representatives will present their business plans to a panel of judges of local businesspeople at the incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
Organizers encourage the campus and community to support the student entrepreneurs and hear their presentations. Student applicants Elizabeth Ring, Sara Kibbler, Jodie White, Alex Czechowski, Nate Winn, Nicole Haynes, Brandon Flores, and Kermit Mitchell will present their final plans to a distinguished panel of judges and answer questions.
The panel includes Nick Gunner, CEO of Orbitist and FTI client, Gina Kron, franchise owner of multiple Tim Horton’s in Chautauqua County, Public Affairs Director Benjamin Roberts at AT&T, and Aaron Resnick, executive director at Westfield Development and Co-founder of TimberFish Technologies. The judges will evaluate the businesses on a variety of criteria, such as customer identification, problem/solution identification, channel to market and revenue streams.
The grand prize is $500 and one year rent-free at the FTI and second prize is $250 and six months rent-free at FTI, both powered by AT&T.
