A total of 75 junior and seniors majoring in Public Accountancy and Accounting convened for the annual Meet the Accountants Night on Sept. 24 in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
The gathering is a private professional recruiting event that provides an opportunity for students enrolled in Accounting programs to meet with employers from accounting firms, government agencies and professional organizations for internships as well as seasonal and permanent career positions. Accounting students prepare for the event by attending resume and interview workshops.
Sixteen firms from Buffalo, Rochester, Fredonia and Jamestown areas attended the event, and many sent representatives who are Fredonia alumni.
The invitation-only Meet the Accountants Night provides students with a valuable, on-campus opportunity to explore career options, interact with professionals in the field and set up future interviews. Potential employers received a 2014 Look Book comprised of each student’s professional resume. The Look Book is also distributed electronically to over 300 accountants and human resources personnel in western New York, northwest Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio.
