On Wednesday, April 28, at SUNY Fredonia, students will gather to take charge of what they see as one of the most controversial civil rights issues of their generation: marriage equality.

Starting at 1 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater, individuals representing various campus groups will lead their peers in a Day of Action for Marriage Equality.

Adam Malchoff and Ryan Quinn are student leaders who are organizing the event. Students will address peers at 1 p.m., followed by student testimonials. Malchoff, Quinn and other student leaders will be available for questions at this time.

The outdoor event was planned to give students the chance to speak out to their state legislators in support of the cause.

The event marks the creation of what students plan to become an organized civil rights effort by colleges and universities statewide.
