The Office of International Education will hold the Fredonia Study Abroad Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from noon to 3 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. The fair will allow Fredonia students to learn more about the 600+ study abroad opportunities offered by the State University of New York network.
Students can speak with Fredonia faculty that lead J-term and Summer programs in locations such as Puerto Rico, London, Russia and much more. Additionally, a number of SUNY study abroad advisors from across the state will be on campus to answer questions about their programs.
Fredonia will also be hosting two international representatives from partner schools. Jon Robinson from Northumbria University in England and Ilana Boon from the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia will be on campus to discuss study abroad opportunities at their universities.
Erin Willis, assistant director study abroad, noted, “One of my favorite things about my job is that I really can see firsthand the way that students change as a part of their study abroad experience. Students don't just learn new things in the classroom – they got a lot of experience outside of the classroom that contributes to their development. Students become more mature and independent for sure; they may improve language or cultural skills; they learn to problem solve or manage ambiguous situations. While they may not know it at the time, traveling between countries or living with a host family teaches them a lot about their host country, the world, and themselves. Study abroad alumni have a much broader view of the world, which is integral for a career in a globalized world.”
