Clocktower on the SUNY Fredonia campus

SUNY Fredonia was selected by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine as one of the 100 best values in public higher education in the nation.

Fredonia was one of 11 State University of New York campuses named to the list.

Kiplinger's determined its rankings based on data provided by more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities. Schools on the list were ranked according to academic quality, cost and financial aid. Kiplinger's noted that the schools on the list "are noteworthy for their combination of top-flight academics and affordable costs."

President Dennis L. Hefner noted, "SUNY Fredonia is proud to again be named by Kiplinger’s as a great educational value. Our terrific students, outstanding academic programs, exceptional graduation rate, and devoted faculty and staff combine to make Fredonia one of the best universities in the nation.”

SUNY Fredonia tuition and fees are below the national average. According to the 2007 College Board annual survey, the national average for tuition and fees for in-state students at public four-year institutions is $6,185, and SUNY Fredonia’s total is $5,541.50. Tuition and fees for in-state students at Fredonia are far below those of New England, which are $8,076 per year; Middle States, at $7,200; and Midwestern States, which average $7,374.

In August 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked SUNY Fredonia in the Top Tier of comprehensive universities in the North. Also in 2007, The Princeton Review recommended SUNY Fredonia as being among 222 “Best Northeastern Colleges.”
