The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Fredonia's Anna Chiacchia as the Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week.
The Geneseo duo of Dana Sorrentino and Sam Montague have been voted as the Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
Chiacchia, a Fredonia Junior, finished the week at 2-0 at No. 1 singles. She only lost three games during the week, defeating Penn State Behrend 6-2, 6-0 and Elmira 6-1,6-0. Ciacchia is now 22-5 as a Blue Devil, holding the second-most career wins at Fredonia.
Sorrentino and and Montague advanced to the Mary Hosking Invintational B Doubles semifinals during the weekend. The Knights duo defeated RIT 8-4 in the first round and Hamilton 8-5 in the second round. They fell to the eventual champions of the group William Smith 8-2 in the semifinal.
