The campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, which is in the process of becoming chartered on campus, will be presenting an interview session in a press conference style with Mel McGinnis, the head of the local Tea Party chapter, on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 8:30 p.m in McEwen G24. All members of the campus community are invited.

The purpose of the session is to give student journalists and other students a chance to question Mr. McGinnis on what he feels the Tea Party movement is all about, and particularly how it may affect SUNY and higher education, Journalism Professor Elmer Ploetz said. "For all of the attention that's been paid to the Tea Party this election season, many of our students still don't know much about it," he added.

The interviews will be conducted in a news conference style, and then opened up to the public for questions. The goal is to give students and the community to examine a volatile issue in a professional setting.
