An information session for the Fredonia Technology Incubator’s annual Student Business Competition, which provides an opportunity for Fredonia students to submit business proposals and compete for admittance into the incubator and other prizes, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m.
“We have exceptional entrepreneurs at Fredonia and this competition provides students with a direct pathway to starting a business,” said Chuck Cornell, incubator director. “This competition promotes retention of talented individuals in our community.”
Now in its third year, the competition is designed to help student entrepreneurs present business ideas, develop proposals, receive guidance from experienced business mentors and launch their own businesses. The winner of the competition earns a paid internship as well as an office at the incubator for one year.
As a client of the incubator, the winner has access to all incubator benefits that include administrative and business services, mentoring, networking, professional consulting, educational opportunities and access to capital as well as work-ready space.
At the information session, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the competition, tour the incubator and network with incubator staff, the entrepreneur in residence, student interns and past business competition winners. Pizza and refreshments will be served and a raffle prize given away.
Walk-ins are welcome, but students are encouraged to R.S.V.P. online.
Transportation from the campus to the incubator, located at 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk, will be provided by incubator client AAL-In Transport, courtesy of the incubator. To schedule a ride call or text Matt Cortes at 716-467-5823.
