Professor Harper’s lecture will focus on the craft and history of songs by well- known international composers such as Schubert and Faurẻ, as well as more modern American composers, Ned Rorem and Daniel Pinkham. Sharing his experiences, Professor Harper will discuss the viability of the art song recital as a socially relevant and compelling form of creative expression.
The Brown Bag Lecture series, sponsored by the College of Arts and Humanities, offers monthly informal talks featuring new creative and scholarly work by members of the SUNY Fredonia faculty. Each 30-minute talk and/or presentation is followed by a brief discussion.
