Teresa McCarthy, of Rochester, N.Y., has been named Student of the Month for March by Residence Life. Teresa was nominated for the Student of the Month program by Patricia Feraldi, the Director of Alumni Affairs, because of her involvement at Fredonia.

"Teresa’s involvement as a student here at Fredonia has been particularly noteworthy,” says Feraldi. “She is a leader, an exemplary role model, and certainly worthy of this honor.”

Teresa is a senior Arts Administration major with a minor in Leadership Studies. She is a SUNY Fredonia tour guide, co-chair of the Senior Challenge Committee, president of the Undergraduate Alumni Council, a SUNY Fredonia Ambassador, a supervisor in the SUNY Fredonia Central Ticket Office, and also a member of the President’s Cabinet. Teresa also has held three internships while at SUNY Fredonia, including the Rockefeller Arts Center, the Admissions Office and the Office of Alumni Affairs.

She is also a board member of the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and a member of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Teresa says her favorite thing about Fredonia is the people. “Everyone, from the students to the faculty and staff, are friendly, supportive and willing to take on new projects for our campus.” She also says she enjoys the variety of activities that are available for the students, so they can become more well-rounded and educated in a variety of fields.
In regards to her future, Teresa will graduate in May 2010 where she will then pursue a Masters Degree in Higher Education.

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
