Three Fredonia women won individual events April 21 at the Don Frail Invitational outdoor track and field meet hosted by Marietta College in Ohio.
Senior sprinter Brittany Feldman (Jamestown/Southwestern) was first in the 400 meters in 56.30 seconds, junior Hannah Kurbs (Lockport/Lockport) first in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best 18:11.59, and freshman Cassie Serafin (Cheektowaga/Depew) first in the triple jump at 10.86 meters (35 feet, 7 ¾ meters).
Other top performances included senior Sarah Couperus (Marion/Marion), second in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) and third in the triple jump at 10.59 meters (34 feet, 9 inches); sophomore Kelly O'Hara (Webster/Webster Thomas), second in the 800 meters at 2:22.68; and the quartet of O'Hara, Feldman, junior Emily Maguire (Oakdale/Connetquot), and freshman Sarah Buckley (Mineola/Holy Trinity), third in the 4-by-400 in 4:13.53.
Personal-bests were also recorded by freshman Samantha Zagurski (West Leyden/Adirondack) in the hammerthrow and the shot put, and freshman Kayla Murray (Buffalo/West Seneca West) in the 100-meter hurdles.
