“Derrida’s Quarrel: ‘La Différance’ at 50,” an essay written by Birger Vanwesenbeeck, associate professor of English, was last week's most-read essay in the Los Angeles Review of Books, an online literary journal that attracts half a million readers from around the world each month.
Since it was published on Jan. 27, Dr. Vanwesenbeeck's essay has been shared over 600 times on social media. The essay commemorates the 50th anniversary of Jacques Derrida’s lecture, “La Différance,” before the Société franҫaise de Philosophie at the Sorbonne. It can be accessed online.
