Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, Welcome Week activities with the theme, “Get Pumped,” will hosted on campus for all SUNY Fredonia students.
Monday at 7 p.m., “Key Chain Highjinks” will held in the Williams Center, encouraging students to “trip out your own key chain, picture and all.”
Tuesday, Aug. 25, features “Up!” as the “L.A. Drive-In Movie,” in the Dods Hall grove, beginning at dusk.
Wednesday, Aug. 26, it’s “Vegas Bingo,” complete with prizes in the Williams Center beginning at 7 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 27, is “Motor City Mic Night,” inviting students to “show us what you got in the Spot!” in the Williams Center. Students can sign up for a slot at 6 p.m., show begins at 7 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 28, it’s the “New York Comedy Café,” featuring Ben Bailey, the “Cash Cab” guy, at 7 p.m. in Marvel Theatre. Students should pick up their free ticket prior to the event at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center. The event is limited to the first 375 students to pick up tickets.
Saturday, Aug. 29, it’s a “Fredonia Block Party,” beginning at 2 p.m. in the vicinity of University Commons, Alumni, McGinnies and Gregory halls, with a chicken barbeque, carnival games and live music.
All events listed above are free and sponsored by the Office of Campus Life, Latinos Unidos, Pride Alliance, Residence Hall Association, Students Teaching Equals Positive Sexuality (STEPS), the Student Association, the Weekend Hang Out Activities (WHOA) Committee, and Spectrum Entertainment Board.
Next week, on Wednesday, Sept. 2, the popular Activities Night will be held on the green behind the Williams Center, allowing students to check out over 130 clubs and organizations.
On Thursday, Sept. 3, Frank Warren, creator of the “PostSecret Project,” will speak at 7 p.m. in King Concert Hall. Tickets, available at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center, are $5 for students, faculty and staff (limit of one ticket), and additional and General Admission tickets are $10.
