The confluence of poetry and science will be explored at Well Lit Café, an evening program featuring award-winning poet Alice Major and Lisa Graziano, owner/editor of Leapfrog Press, on Saturday, April 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Williams Center Horizon Room.

“Binocular Visions: Science Meets Poetry” is the theme of the inaugural event.

Ms. Major, who has published 10 award-winning collections of poetry, will also give a poetry reading. Her book of essays, “Intersecting Sets: A Poet Looks at Science,” received glowing reviews in both literary magazines and “American Scientist” magazine. She is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Ms. Graziano, through her work as a faculty member and chief scientist at Sea Education Association, was exposed to diverse ocean environments that taught her much about the ways people perceive and describe both the natural world and their own interrelationships. She has a master’s degree in marine science and a doctorate in oceanography.
