The Fredonia women's cross country team placed fourth of 10 teams in the SUNYAC Championship meet held at Letchworth State Park on Saturday. Sophomore Brenna Donovan (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) was the top Blue Devil runner placing 18th in a time of 22:48.9 on the 6K course. Sara Rosenzweig of Geneseo took first place in 21:46.6. A total of 113 runners finished the race.
Senior Bonnie Binggeli (Walworth/Ruben A. Crillio) was less than two seconds behind Donovan, finishing 19th in a time of 22:50.5.
Sophomore Hannah Kurbs (Lockport/Lockport) was 24th in 23:18.4, sophomore Carly DeBono (Medford/Patchogue-Medford) was 28th in 23:24.4, and Julia Johnson (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished in 23:27.5 good enough for 29th place.
Displacement runners were sophomore Stephanie Wojnowski (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) in 32nd place in 23:32.6, and senior Kara Hall (Fredonia/Byron-Bergen) was 33rd in 23:35.5.
Geneseo was the team champion with five runners all in the top 10 finishers.
Fredonia earned two points in the Battle By The Lake Series with Buffalo State -- the Bengals finished ninth in the team standings -- to take a 6-2 lead.
