The Women's Studies program invites all members of the campus community to a brainstorming session at its Fall Gathering on Friday, Sept 7, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni House. The purpose of the gathering is to connect with those who are interested in being affiliated with the program and start a discussion on its future.  Volunteers are wanted to help organize such traditional events as Women, Rock & Soul; the annual Gender Research Conference,  and Women's History Month.

"We are in the midst of some important transitions to broaden the focus of women's studies to be more inclusive of gender and sexuality," Dr. Jeanette McVicker said. "We're also seeking to strengthen and expand the transnational and multi-ethnic connections in the curriculum and event programming."

Students from Women's Student Union and this year's Introduction to WS class will be attending the gathering. "Our students will be an integral part of the planning," Dr. McVicker said. "We're seeking to build on the program's past success and move the program into the future."

All those interested in being part of this pivotal moment in the program's history are encouraged to stop by and brainstorm and enjoy some light refreshments. "We are eager to get new faculty and staff involved, and welcome back past affiliates," Dr. McVicker said.

Those who can't attend the gathering can email her at mcvicker@fredonia.edu to give ideas or indicate their interest in being involved in some of the activities of the Women's Studies Program.
