Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program
FredoniaVITA, our Annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program since the 1982 tax season, is co-sponsored by the Fredonia State Accounting Society and the Internal Revenue Service. FredoniaVITA recruits and trains volunteers to help the elderly, low-income and non-English speaking residents of the Dunkirk and Fredonia area to prepare and file their federal and state income tax returns.
VITA Sites
Over the years FredoniaVITA help sites have been located at different locations throughout the Dunkirk and Fredonia area. Each year a team of volunteers wait to help taxpayers at the State University of New York at Fredonia Technology Incubator on Saturdays and certain weekdays throughout tax season.
VITA Volunteers
This program would not exist without the time and talents donated by the FredoniaVITA volunteers.
Volunteer Training
To qualify, volunteer assistors must complete an extensive online course to be certified to prepare federal and NYS tax returns.
