A variety of tuition assistance programs are available to Fredonia employees to assist in making staff development personally affordable. Certain benefits are available to all employees, while others are available as the result of negotiated labor agreements between the State of New York and several recognized bargaining units. If the program title is union-specific (e.g., CSEA, UUP), it is available only to employees in that bargaining unit.

Course Auditing
At no direct cost, Fredonia staff may audit classes that are held on campus subject to the availability of space, and at the discretion of individual instructors. No grades or transcripts will be provided to those sitting in on classes, but this option may be of benefit to those who are seeking an understanding of specific course material. Individuals are expected to provide their own books and course supplies.

SUNY B-140W Tuition Assistance Program
The State University of New York sponsors a tuition assistance program for employees. Full-time employees, and part-time employees who are benefits eligible, who are taking a college course at an accredited four-year SUNY educational institution, may apply for a tuition reimbursement of 25% of the in-state rate.
This benefit is available to all Management Confidential staff and UUP, CSEA, PBANYS and PEF represented employees of Fredonia. Part-time employees who are NOT benefits eligible, may apply for 15% tuition reimbursement of the in-state rate.
Employees attending an institution with a tuition rate lower than Fredonia, will receive their percentage of reimbursement based on that institution's tuition cost. Employees attending an institution with a tuition rate higher than Fredonia, will receive their percentage of reimbursement based on Fredonia's tuition cost. This benefit provides for tuition assistance/reimbursement of one class per semester, up to four semesters a year.
Employees may pick up their SUNY Tuition and Fee Assistance Program application form (B-140W) from the Student Accounts Office, or it is available to print HERE. Forms must be signed by the employee and the employee's supervisor. Then they must be hand delivered by the employee to the Benefits Office in Human Resources and then hand delivered to the Student Accounts Office.
*Please note: Limited funds are available for this program each academic year. Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis, and must be submitted within four weeks of semester start up. Additionally, the percentage of reimbursement can be affected by the number of employees choosing to participate in a given semester, which could create either a less favorable or more favorable reimbursement to the employee than anticipated.
