The SUNY Fredonia Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs (OGSP) supports scholarly efforts of faculty and staff, especially those funded externally.

Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs is our campus' central point for grants, contracts, and other agreements from government agencies, private industry, and non-profit foundations. We are SUNY Fredonia's connection to the SUNY Research Foundation.

Our resource and compliance functions:

  • Identifying funding opportunities.
  • Assisting with proposal development.
  • Electronic proposal submission.
  • Serving as a liaison to SUNY Research Foundation supports.
  • Administering and monitoring funded projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state policies pertaining to research.
  • Initial contact for the transfer of research-derived inventions into commercial use, for cases of intellectual property.

Justin J. Couchman, Ph.D.
Director of Sponsored Programs

Dr. Couchman began his work as Director of Sponsored Programs in 2025. He was previously Professor of Psychology at Albright College, where he taught and did undergraduate research for over a decade. He has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University at Buffalo, and a B.A. in Philosophy from SUNY Fredonia. 

The Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs supports faculty, staff, administrators, and students as they develop grant proposals and secure external funding for approved projects. We collaborate with the SUNY Research Foundation to provide talent, services, and technology that empowers research, innovation, and transfers discoveries that transform the world’s knowledge economy.
