Homecoming Awards Luncheon
Three alums will be recognized for outstanding achievement in their respective fields: John Baust PhD ’65 (Biology), Kimberlee Neifer Caldwell PhD ’97 (Recombinant Gene Technology), and Clifton C. Turner ’84 (Business Administration) will be honored at the Alumni Awards Luncheon, at noon, in the Marche dining area, located on the second floor of University Commons (formerly known as Cranston Hall).
Rounding out the noon program will be special recognition of all of our Golden Grads (those alums from the Class of 1959 and before), the Class of 1964 (with a special re-dedication of the sculpture, “Protected Dialogue,” that graces the front of University Commons and was given as a gift by the Class of 1964), immediately following the luncheon.
Education alumni reception
Also on Saturday, the College of Education invites its alumni back to SUNY Fredonia for a chance to catch up with old friends, new faculty, and current students. Discover what new programs and changes to education at SUNY Fredonia have taken place since you have graduated. Join them in the Pucci Room, Williams Center, on Saturday, October 10th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for light refreshments.
Fredonia Reunion Jazz Ensemble
There are several free musical performances to which we would like to draw your attention. The Fredonia Reunion Jazz Ensemble will once again perform on Friday evening, Oct. 9, at 8 PM, in Rosch Recital Hall.
Tribute to Bob Schweik and Ted Frazeur
At 3 PM, on Saturday, “Legacies in Words and Music: A Celebration of the Careers of Bob Schweik and Ted Frazeur,” will bring together members of the community-based PENELOPE Writers Collective and current Fredonia faculty and students to share with alumni, especially from English and Percussion/Music, ongoing and mutually creative projects. This one and one half hour event, followed by a reception, will center on a presentation of "The ABC Adventure," a poem by Joanne Schweik, set to music by Theodore Frazeur, and read by Gisele Frazeur.
Wind Ensemble Concert
On Saturday evening, please make every effort to attend the Wind Ensemble Concert at 8 PM, in King Concert Hall, conducted by faculty member, Dr. Paula Holcomb. All are guaranteed to be outstanding performances.
Rosch Musical Arts Series
The Sunday afternoon jazz concert , “VERDEHR TRIO , scheduled for 4 PM, in Rosch Recital Hall, also promises to be a wonderful treat. The Trio has created a large repertoire by commissioning over 200 new works from some of the world's most prominent and exciting composers--known and unknown, young and old, from this country and abroad. Class get-togethers
The Classes of 1949, 1964, 1969, 1984, 1989, and 1999 will all celebrate anniversaries with special events. For all of the other honored classes – the Classes of 1974, 1979, 1994, and 2004, there will be recognition of your respective anniversaries at the Awards Luncheon on Saturday. Specific downtown establishments will be designated for further opportunities in which to gather later that evening. Look for the location assignments at the Homecoming Registration Table.
