The children of Mr. and Mrs. Sam were hearing impaired and received speech and language services in the public schools and at the Youngerman Center. This award was established by the Sam Family in an effort to support students preparing for careers working with the speech and hearing impaired.

This award is given to a junior, senior or graduate Speech-Language Pathology student with a minimum GPA of 3.00, in recognition of scholarly achievement through a review by the faculty of the Communication Disorders and Sciences Department.
