The SUNY Fredonia Accounting Society is hosting three guest speakers as part of its Spring series: Buffalo News finance reporter David Robinson, White Inn innkeeper Robert "Mr. Manners" Contiguglia, and Buffalo City Comptroller Andrew SanFilippo.

Robinson will speak on Wednesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. in Fenton Hall Room 105. A graduate of Syracuse University, he has been with the Buffalo News since 1985, having spent the last 20 years writing for its Business section. This department generates over 1,500 stories a year — more than any other department — with a staff of just five reporters. Specializing in corporate coverage, Robinson writes a Sunday column which often examines Buffalo’s hard-hit economy, corporate leadership and prospects for growth.  He also pioneered coverage of Western New York stocks and corporate compensation. This free event is open to the public. Light food and refreshments will be served.

Contiguglia will discuss the dos and don'ts of business dining etiquette at a special dinner at the White Inn on Sunday, March 16 starting at 2:30 p.m. This is the Accounting Society's 18th Annual Business Etiquette Dinner.  Contiguglia holds a master’s degree from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. He is co-owner and innkeeper of The White Inn.  Tickets are $20 for students and $40 for non-students, and may be purchased at the School of Business’ main office, E336 Thompson Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus. Seating is limited, and each attendee will receive a copy of the annual “Business Etiquette Dinner Guidebook,” and a copy of “My First Book of Business Etiquette.” Business attire is required, and dinner will feature an elegant, four-course meal of “challenging” foods to enhance the learning experience.

The Accounting Society’s spring series continues on April 16 at 6 p.m. with a program featuring City of Buffalo Comptroller Andrew SanFilippo. He will discuss a day in the life of the comptroller for the second-largest city in New York State. He first joined the Comptroller's office in 1973 as an Assistant to the Comptroller, and has held the position of Investment and Debt Management Officer for the City of Buffalo since 1980.  He is a long-time member of the New York Government Finance Officers Association’s Banking and Investment Committee, is active in numerous community groups, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Brockport State College. Taking place in 105 Fenton Hall, this program is free and open to the public, with light food and refreshments served.
