The exhibit will present oil and watercolor selections from Rey's recent body of work along with examples of his sketchbooks and artifacts from his studio that included items from his research and travels. His oils and watercolors feature landscapes and fish species that are native to Virginia, Alaska, Cuba, Wales and Iceland.

The RTPI exhibit will run March 6 through May 9. Rey will be featured there at a meet-the-artist reception and gallery talk on Saturday, March 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission to the reception is free and is open to the general public.

RTPI is also sponsoring a workshop on sketchbook development Saturday, April 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. "Sketchbook Development: Roger Tory Peterson, Alberto Rey, and You" will provide a rare look at the sketchbooks of Peterson and Rey, while letting the participants investigate the process of personal visual documentation. Participants will be provided with sketchbooks and taken on a tour of flora and fauna on the RTPI grounds. Rey will work with individuals to help them create sketches. Open to all ages, the workshop costs $25 per person. For more information regarding the exhibit and accompanying events, visit the Roger Tory Peterson Institute website .

Rey also has other exhibits planned this spring and summer in Buffalo, Rochester, Argentina, and the Vatican City.

Rey began teaching at SUNY Fredonia in 1989, where he is now a SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media. His artwork over the past 25 years has been influenced by his Cuban lineage and his attempt to find a sense of identity in a complex, contemporary environment. Alberto's paintings can be found in over 20 museum collections and have been in over 130 exhibitions, and his films and videos have been screened nationally.

Other shows in the next few months Rey's works will also be featured this spring at the SUNY at Buffalo Art Gallery March 18 through May 15, in an exhibit entitled, Biological Regionalism, Ellicott Creek, Amherst, NY. In conjunction with this, he will give a lecture at the UB North Campus Noon Lecture Series on Thursday, April 1, entitled, Looking for Home.

The U.S. Embassy in the Vatican City, Italy, will show his works from May 1 through December and his art will be included in an exhibit at the Catholic University of Argentina in Buenos Aires from June 22 through July 30.

From July 25 through Sept. 26, Rey is one of six regional artists to be featured during its biennial invitational show at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester.
