Dr. Sherri Mason isn't afraid to get a little dirty as she teaches students just how much "trash" could actually be recycled.

SUNY Fredonia has been featured by the American Democracy Project for its recent Earth Week activities.  The story, based on a submission from SUNY Fredonia Chemistry and Environmental Sciences professor Sherri Mason, can be found here.

The story is part of the ADP blog, which is read by close to 3,500 people including ADP faculty, students, administrators and our national partner organizations, as well as a variety of national media representatives.

The American Democracy Project is a multi-campus initiative focused on higher education’s role in preparing the next generation of informed, engaged citizens for our democracy.  The project began in 2003 as an initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), in partnership with The New York Times. More than 220 colleges and universities make up this partnership at present, producing graduates who are committed to being active, involved citizens in their communities.

"SUNY Fredonia continues to be a leader in the American Democracy Project and especially in Earth Day activities," said Cecilia Orphan, national manager of the American Democracy Project. "The mix of community action and engagement, education, and critical analysis including in Fredonia’s celebrations are truly innovative. I hope many other campuses within the ADP Network will be inspired to follow your good example."
