The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one quarter, and a 10-2 lead at the half, but the Canton Roos would make a game of it with a late flurry before succumbing 16-13 to the Blue Devils.

With the Devils leading 15-6 in the fourth quarter, Canton closed the game with seven of the eight final goals.

The fast start for the Devils was aided by a pair of goals from both Emma Cockerell amd Mieley Baran, staking them to a 4-0 lead. Both would finish the game with three goals each.

Mendez had three goals and Kiera Young and Cailin Karalus both had two goals. Sydney Buchko had one goal and three assists.

Canton (5-7, 1-4) was led by Lindsay Wunder, Ava Dupee, and Maddy Caron with three goals each.

The Devils improve to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC. They play host to Buffalo State on Wednesday.
