SUNY Fredonia’s School of Business has renewed its prestigious accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International for its degree programs in Accounting, Public Accountancy, Business Administration, Finance, Management and Marketing.

“Certain academic standards are essential to acquire and maintain for this accreditation, which requires an ongoing commitment to deliver high quality rigorous business programs as well as continuously improving them,” said Dean of the School of Business Kaustav Misra. “Reaffirming AACSB accreditation is a statement of our dedication to our School of Business students.”

The AACSB accreditation is a specialized credential that business schools use to convey their dedication to graduate business leaders and employ quality faculty members. The accreditation is held by only 5 percent of schools worldwide. The prestigious recognition ensures Fredonia’s programs meet the highest standards, preparing students for global careers.

“Achieving this milestone ensures greater access to high-quality business education for learners around the world and businesses seeking top talent,” said Stephanie Bryant, executive vice president and global chief accreditation officer at AACSB. “The commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of each school’s dedication — not only to its students, alumni network, and greater business community — but to society as a whole.”

Achieving AACSB accreditation requires developing and implementing standards that require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation, research, and teaching and learning.

Fredonia’s commitment starts with engagement. Students take their studies out of the classroom and work with outside businesses and clients to problem-solve on all facets of the business world, from marketing, to operations, to finance. All business students are required to take an internship in their field.

Fredonia is constantly examining its course load strategically to ensure classes are aligned with what industries are looking for in future employees. The business student organization, Enactus, is among the top campus groups in the country. Fredonia graduates have entered into highly-competitive positions in companies like Geico, Frito-Lay, ADP, and Wal-Mart, to name just a few.

“I am thrilled with the outcome and excited to continue offering career focused business education to our students,” said Dr. Misra. “I thank our faculty, staff, and community members who worked extremely hard to secure the accreditation.”
