Fredonia State men's track and field team had two athletes compete at the Regional level. On Saturday, Nick Abdo and Josh Walters traveled to Nazareth College to compete in the 400m and the 800m. They both were able to achieve low enough times to qualify for AARTFC on multiple occasions, throughout the year.
Abdo started off the day competing in the 400m. He was able to position himself at No.15 overall, out of 27 different athletes competing. He achieved this placement with a time of 50.98.
Walters followed right after by competing in the 800m. Within this event, he was able to place No.20 out of 28 different athletes. His final time of 1:58.29 was just enough to push him into the top 20 of his peers.
Both athletes couldn't achieve their personal best times at regionals, but achieved their best overall seasons in total. For Walters this was his first time competing in the indoor season of track and field, while this was Abdo's first season at Fredonia State.
"Very strong indoor seasons for both Abdo and Walters," said coach Tom Wilson. "We all Learned a lot about what both of their futures look like. Now it's time to rest and get back to training for the outdoor season."
An excellent finish to the season for both athletes, as they look towards their outdoor season.
