Junior Izzy Audette and sophomore Logan Dyck earned the coveted Greg Prechtl Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards at the athletic department's end-of-the year banquet, a.k.a., the Freddys.

Audette was a First Team All-SUNYAC and Second Team All-Region selection for the women's soccer team. Dyck was Second Team All-Conference, and grabbed the national spotlight with his Goalie Goal against SUNY Buffalo State College -- the Twitter video amassed nearly 80,000 views. The awards were named in honor of Athletic Director Emeritus, Greg Prechtl, who was part of the department for 44 years.

Rookie of the Year Awards for the women were shared by Haley Lerner of the track and field team and Mary Culeton of women's basketball. Over the weekend, Lerner was a SUNYAC Champion in the pole vault. Culteon was the top rebounding guard in the conference this year, leading the team to a playoff berth as its point guard.

Dyck was a repeat winner, taking the Rookie of the Year Award for the men. He was eligible as a sophomore as the hockey team did not compete last winter due to COVID. It was his first year of collegiate competition.

The individual Academic Awards to the graduating athlete with the highest GPA went to Katie Smith, a Geology major from the women's basketball team, and Tony Gettino, a double major in Sport Management and Communication: Public Relations, from the track and field and cross country teams.

The Top 10 plays of the year were also presented, with Emily Chelius' game-winning, walk-off home run vs. perennial power Cortland earning the Play of the Year Award.

The Team Academic Excellence Award and the Team Athletic Achievement awards were swept by the women's soccer team. They took care of business on the field and in the classroom.

Groundskeeper extraordinaire John Cole was recognized with the Mike Kozlowski Service Award for his dedication to our athletic fields.
