The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team spread the wealth around on offense as eight different Devils found the back of the net March 17 en route to a 18-3 victory over Ohio Northern University.
Fredonia State was led by Erin Woods who finished the night scoring six goals. Julie Culver would add four goals and two assists. Sydney Buchko would have a game high eight draw controls.
Not to be out done themselves, the defense for the Devils turned in an impressive showing, holding the Polar Bears to just 3 goals, 10 shots on goal and causing 12 turnovers. Players Camryn Jacobs and Audrey Brown each had three caused turnovers.
"We're improving every single day on the field and it showed in these past two games. We're finding our confidence right as we head into SUNYAC play in the next two weeks and I can't wait to see how much we continue to grow against great competition," noted Head Coach Tori Poffenberger.
Fredonia State seized control of the game from the start as the Devils scored the first six goals of the game. Erin Woods would set the tone early for the Devils scoring four out of the teams first six goals. After a score from the Polar Bears with .24 left in the first, Fredonia State would start the second quarter up 6-1. The Devils would continue their offensive assault outscoring the Polar Bears 6-1 going into the half up 12-2.
The second half was much of the same as Blue Devils continued to push the pace and finish out long possessions. The Devils would close out the second half scoring six goals while only giving up a single goal.
The Devils head back to New York going 1-1 in Florida and improve to 5-2 on the season. Next up for Fredonia State is a road game at Medaille College Wednesday, March 22 at 5 p.m.
