A balanced scoring attack carried Fredonia over Potsdam, 54-39, in SUNYAC women's basketball Sunday afternoon at Dods Hall.

Freshman forward Katie Pitcher (Fulton/Hannibal) had 11 points and senior forward Jenna Einink (Westfield/Chautauqua Lake) and sophomore guard Sydney Turley (Cheektowaga/Cleveland Hill) 10 points each. Einink also grabbed 11 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season.

Other key performers for Fredonia were senior guard Sarah Sweazy (Rochester, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) with five steals and junior guard Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg/Hamburg) with four assists. The Blue Devils assisted on 14 of 18 field goals.

Devyn Elliott led Potsdam with 14 points and nine rebounds. The Bears fell to 7-13 overall, 4-10 in the conference.

Fredonia led from start-to-finish Sunday, a game rescheduled from Friday because Potsdam -- due to poor winter traveling conditions -- was unable to bus to Western New York. The Blue Devils led 18-12 after the first quarter -- by far, their best shooting quarter of the game (7 of 14 from the field). Their largest lead was 17 points, 49-32, midway through the fourth quarter.

Improving to 7-7 in the conference (10-11 overall), the Blue Devils moved into fifth place, one-half game ahead of Brockport, which visits Dods Hall in the final home game on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The top six teams make the conference tournament, which begins Feb. 20.
