The Social Work program recently hosted their annual, new member induction ceremony for the Phi Alpha honor society.

The national social work honor ceremony was held on the SUNY Fredonia campus in Thompson Hall. Inducted into the society were Remy Comstock of Sinclairville, NY; Mackenzie Minor of Horseheads, NY; Makayla Mohrman of Webster, NY; Ada Pachucinski of Elma, NY, and Jessica Pulver of Irving, NY.

To be eligible for membership in Phi Alpha, a student needs to have completed at least 9 credit hours of social work courses as well as have an overall GPA in the top 35 percent of majors.

The induction ceremony was hosted by President Paige Johnson, President and Vice President Aileen Richardson.

The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
