A couple of events open to the public will highlight Fredonia Harp Day on Saturday, April 26.

At 1 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1080, guest artist Sunshine Quan will perform. The Chinese-Canadian harpist is pursuing a D.M.A. in Harp Performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.

Winner of the 2024 American Harp Foundation’s Grandjany Memorial Competition, Ms. Quan was also a National Gold Medalist for her diploma performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) in 2021. Her program will include works by Debussy and Tournier.

The recital is made possible by the Western New York Chapter of the American Harp Society, Inc.

At 4 p.m., also in 1080 Mason Hall, SUNY Fredonia's annual Harp Day finishes with a final concert and the most heavenly of sounds - a room full of harps. Enjoy a variety of ensemble music from a waltz to a polka. Every year, harpists of all ages from across the region gather together at SUNY Fredonia for a day of fun music making.

Both events are free and the public is invited to attend.
