Five alumni, three teams to be added the Athletics Hall of Fame

The 2022 Fredonia State Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8.

Director of Athletics, Jerry Fisk, said the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the postponement of the 25th annual event twice previously.

"After postponing the induction multiple times," said Fisk, "it seems the pandemic is in a place that we can induct this Hall of Fame class and provide the celebration is befitting their athletic achievements as Blue Devils. The success of this group of inductees is remarkable and we look forward to enshrining them alongside other Blue Devil greats."

Five individuals and three Teams of Distinction will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The individuals are player-coach-administrator Greg Prechtl ('69), Jordan Basile ('09) from baseball, Matt Borchard ('06) from men's soccer, Sarah Hite-Moore ('05) from women's track and field, and Walt Hubbard ('93) from men's basketball. The Teams of Distinction are 1981 men's cross country, 1985 and 1986 men's soccer, and 1992-93 men's basketball.

A full schedule of event, including a men's soccer game versus Potsdam, will take place on Athletics Hall of Fame weekend. More details on the weekend's events will be released in the near future.
