Two public harp concerts – a guest recital featuring 15-year-old Eunice Park and a performance of more than 20 harpists playing together in a grand finale concert – will highlight the annual Harp Day at SUNY Fredonia on Sunday, May 1.

Ms. Park, the first-place winner of the intermediate II division of the American Harp Society’s National Competition, will perform works by Marcel Grandjany, Reinhold Gliére and Elias Parish Alvars in Mason Hall Room 1075 at 1 p.m. Park is enrolled in the Juilliard Pre-College program.

The recital is made possible by an American Harp Society Winners Outreach Grant, with thanks to the society’s Western New York chapter.

Harp Day will culminate in a flourish with a truly unique experience: a room full of harp musicians – performing heavenly sounds in unison in a variety of ensemble music that ranges from folk songs to polkas in the grand finale concert. Every year, harpists of all ages from across the region gather for a day of unique music-making. The concert will be presented at 4 p.m., also in Mason Hall Room 1075.

Both Harp Day performances are free and open to the public.
