Five Fredonia cheerleaders were recognized Saturday during the men's basketball game at Dods Hall.
Team co-captains, base Kiara Dreyer (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) and base Mary Polvino (Fredonia/Fredonia), and four-year team member and base Emily Blidy (Buffalo/Mount Mercy), said Head Coach Katie Pucci-Schaefer, "have been instrumental in leading the team throughout the season as they move in new directions.
In addition, flyer Nicole Korzeniewski (Fredonia/Fredonia) and back spot Erica Cooney (Syracuse/Cicero-North), Pucci-Schaefer said, "were key components as they stepped up to benefit the team. Filling vacant positions, they helped the team move forward at a crucial time.
"It was through the Fabulous Five's dedication that the team has continued to emerge into a stronger, more diverse team."
The cheerleaders will make their final regular-season home appearance Tuesday during the men's game vs. Brockport at Dods Hall starting at 7:30 p.m.
