

In partnership with Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES (E2CCB), SUNY Fredonia presented the inaugural Literacy Suite Workshop.
The March 7 program was designed to serve both in-service teachers in the region and pre-service teachers enrolled in the university’s teacher certification programs.
Objectives of the day-long workshop were to promote educational growth, share innovative teaching strategies and enhance literacy programs across the region. Its three focused segments were AI Literacy, The Science of Reading and Financial Literacy.
The sessions introduced educators to the Literacy Suite’s key features and provided hands-on strategies to integrate these concepts into their classrooms.

By the conclusion of the workshop, educators had gained practical skills in leveraging AI tools, preparing students to become proficient readers and providing K-12 students with essential financial literacy knowledge.
Approximately 250 K-12 teachers as well as over 50 SUNY Fredonia faculty and students attended the workshop held in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
Dr. Kilpatrick's presentation on reading was supported by the Sean Ryan Memorial Fund through the Fredonia College Foundation to support literacy education.
