University Commons is shown above at night. SUNY Fredonia will close for 10 days across the Christmas and New Year's Holidays to save on energy costs.

SUNY Fredonia will enter its annual energy-saving, year-end shutdown period at the close of business on Friday, Dec. 22. With the exception of a few offices, all buildings, services and operations across the campus will be curtailed until Tuesday, Jan. 2

The two-week shutdown period allowed SUNY Fredonia to save between $40,000 and $50,000 in the past. Access to campus buildings will be limited to authorized personnel and heating will be reduced to minimal levels. Campus roads will continue to be plowed in case of snowy conditions, but parking lots considered non-essential will not be maintained until business opens the morning of Jan. 2.
