Recognizing the accomplishments of student volunteers and their community partners will be the focus of the program, “Engaging In Our Community: Students and Service,” on Tuesday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Room S121 of the Williams Center.

The series is designed to identify and build college and community partnerships and projects, enhance cultural and economic connections, and foster civic responsibility and engagement.

The April 22nd gathering, the second in the series, will recognize accomplishments and progress attained by student volunteers and community partners, while also raising awareness among students about other opportunities available within the community.

Attending the session will be representatives from the following organizations and events: AIDS Walk, Campus and Community Children’s Center, Chautauqua Rural Ministries, Compeer for Youth, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life and WCA Home.

Dr. David Rankin, associate professor of Political Science, is moderating the event, which is sponsored by the Volunteer and Community Services advisory group chaired by Joyce Harvard Smith, coordinator of Volunteer and Community Services at SUNY Fredonia, with assistance from Steven Bonanno, AmeriCorps VISTA liaison.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to join in the discussion. Refreshments will be served.
