Professor Anton Agafonov of the Department of Modern Languages, together with Professor Jack Croxton of the Department of Psychology, will give a presentation titled, “A Russian Odyssey,” detailing their respective experiences in traveling to and living in Russia. The talk will take place on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. in 154 Fenton Hall.
Agafonov and Croxton will show pictures and provide commentary about their experiences of Russia, focusing primarily on St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The Psychology Club and Psi Chi, SUNY Fredonia’s honor society for psychology students, have organized this event for the campus and local community. The presentation will inform students about the opportunities for study abroad programs in Russia following the Spring 2010 semester.
“The psychology organizations share the opinion that it is important to learn about other cultures, and the best way to accomplish this is to actually visit other countries,” said Professor Croxton. “ Not only will students going to visit Russia have an opportunity to see the sights of St. Petersburg and Moscow, but they will be able to interact with students from St. Petersburg Stage University. “
The presentation is free and anyone interested in learning more about Russia is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
