The Faculty Student Association, Inc. (FSA) at SUNY Fredonia has announced that Darin R. A. Schulz has been named as its new Executive Director. He will assume his new position officially on Jan. 16.

Mr. Schulz has most recently served as the Chautauqua County Director of Finance, a position which he has held since 2006. In that capacity he has been the Chief Fiscal Officer, responsible for all financial and accounting operations for the $200 million, 139,000-resident municipal county entity.

Prior to this, he served as a business administrator for the Warren County (Pa.) School District from 2005 to 2006, as well as a financial analyst for Chautauqua County from 1999 to 2005.

“I am honored to be offered the opportunity to become a member of the FSA and SUNY Fredonia families,” said Schultz. “I look forward to the challenge before me and will work diligently to further the excellence that the FSA has achieved.”

Schulz holds a bachelor’s degree in operations management from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a master’s degree in economics and finance from Buffalo State College. He began his career with the United States Navy, where he served in many capacities from 1993 to 1999, eventually earning the title of Lieutenant in the Supply Corps.

He currently resides in Ashville, N.Y., with his wife, Amy, and their three children.

Schulz was selected from an impressive list of candidates and is succeeding Associate Vice President and FSA Executive Director Charles M. Notaro, a member of SUNY Fredonia’s Class of 1968, who is retiring after a 47-year career of service to the FSA and the campus.

“I am very pleased to see the selection of Mr. Schulz to lead FSA into its next chapter here at SUNY Fredonia,” Mr. Notaro said. “Having watched and helped this campus grow as a student and an employee for nearly a half century, it is with mixed emotions that I begin the next chapter of my life, but I am confident we have selected an excellent individual, and that he will flourish in this new role.”
