International Education Week was originally scheduled for late November 2014, but events were cancelled due to the massive Western New York snow storm. The celebration has been rescheduled for the week of Jan. 26.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in rescheduled and new events offered by the Office of International Education to promote diversity and global education. Throughout the week, various events will be taking place on campus related to the global community.

Highlights of the week include:

  • Study Abroad Photo Contest and U.S.P.S. Passport Day: Tuesday, Jan. 27 at noon, Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Hosted by the Office of International Education, participants can view beautiful photographs taken around the world by study abroad alumni, and submit a passport application to be prepared for an international adventure!  Note: Event cancelled due to illness.
  • “Diamond Arm:” Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m., Williams Center Room S204E. The Department of History is screening the Russian film, "Diamond Arm." Students interested in Fredonia's summer study abroad program in Russia are encouraged to attend.
  • Study Abroad Fair: Wednesday, Jan. 28 at noon, Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Hosted by the Office of International Education, the event is for students interested in faculty-led programs over the summer and winter terms. Fredonia offers a wide variety of winter and summer travel abroad opportunities that encompass Belize, London and Puerto Rico in the J-Term and England, Russia, Ecuador, Italy, France, Morocco and Mexico during summer months. Faculty members who serve as program leaders and students who have studied abroad will be on hand at the fair to provide information and answer questions from interested students.
  • Global Resume Workshop: Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m., Williams Center Room S204E. For students who have studied abroad, done international service work, or shown a commitment to diversity as an undergraduate. The Office of International Education and the Career Development Office will assist students in a resume workshop to help them articulate their global experiences.
  • “The Stirring of a Thousand Bells”: Jan. 28 at 6 p.m., Williams Center Multipurpose Room. The Department of History, in collaboration with the Office of International Education and the School of Music, are hosting Fredonia alumnus Matt Dunning, '06, for the screening of his two short films on the ancient Indonesia music tradition, Gamelan. A reception with light hors d'oeuvres and a musical performance will precede the film, and a Q & A with the director will follow.   • EC English Meet and Greet: Thursday, Jan. 29 at 2:30 p.m., EC Student Lounge, Jewett Hall Room107A. For Fredonia students who want to meet international students. Light refreshments will be served.
  • Study Abroad 101: Thursday, Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 30 at noon, Williams Center Room S226B. For students interested in studying abroad but don't know where to start. The Office of International Education will help jump start students’ study abroad process by providing assistance in completing the study abroad application.
