Meghan Devine of Clarence has been named Fredonia Office of Residence Life’s Student of the Month for the month of October. Nominated by Associate Professor Laura Deen Johnson, Ms. Devine, a senior double major in Audio/Radio Production and Media Management with a minor in English, excels not only in the classroom, but also in the radio station and as a student athlete.

Ms. Devine’s campus leadership positions include general manager of the Fredonia Radio Systems, captain of the Fredonia Women’s Track and Field team and a teacher’s assistant for Honors Colloquium. For two years, she has been the captain of the track and field team as well as one of Fredonia’s top 10 athletes in two events.

During her time as an active member and manager of the Fredonia Radio Systems, Ms. Devine learned much about what is takes to become successful in the radio business. When asked about the future and her career goals, she pointed out the flexibility of the registrar and variety of options Fredonia has offered her. She has been able to dabble in each field she has an interest in.

“For this year, I academically hope to achieve Dean’s List for my last year, and take in as much as I can from the classroom and my experiences in the station. I also hope to reach my potential in athletics, and help my team score top three in the SUNYAC division for the school,” said Ms. Devine.

After graduation, Ms. Devine looks forward to pursuing a career in a media management position within a human relations department.

Fredonia’s Office of Residence Life developed the Student of the Month program in 2003 to recognize students’ success and dedication in both the classroom and the community.
