SUNY Fredonia’s Career Development Office will host a Graduate School Fair on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. in The Williams Center.

Representatives from more than 45 graduate programs located in numerous states will be present with information readily available to all SUNY Fredonia students and alumni. The fair will include such prestigious schools as Columbia University and The Chicago Adler School of Psychology, as well as other out-of-state schools from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maine and others. SUNY Fredonia’s own graduate studies office will also be present with information regarding all of the graduate degrees and other programs available. Faculty and staff are also invited to see what programs are available for their own students.

“The fair is an opportunity for students to learn about programs from both in and outside of Western New York, and learn firsthand about the application process and what each program has to offer,” said Chris LaGrow, Assistant Director of the Career Development Office. “It’s a chance to speak with others instead of solely relying on the internet for the information they need.”

This is the first time Fredonia has hosted a fair since 2001. The concept was rekindled upon discovering that more than half of SUNY Fredonia’s current seniors are aspiring to pursue graduate programs upon commencement. Surveys have also shown that more than one-third of Fredonia’s former students have continued on to graduate school immediately after earning their bachelor’s degree.
