“Eulogy,” a composition by Fredonia School of Music Associate Professor Rob Deemer, will premiere at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall on Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m.
The Harmonia Chamber Singers, a professional caliber a cappella ensemble based in Buffalo, will perform the piece at “A Cappella Next!” an event dedicated to contemporary choral chamber music.
“I'm absolutely ecstatic about the opportunity to have my work performed in such a revered venue,” said Deemer.
“Eulogy” is based on Iraq War veteran Brian Turner's narrative of a soldier who takes his own life on the battlefield in Iraq.
Dr. Deemer is a composer, conductor, educator, author, and columnist who advocates for composers of all ages and explores the role that contemporary concert music plays in today’s society. Deemer’s extensive and unique career has seen his music performed at the Kennedy Center, the Cannes Film Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Joe’s Pub in New York City, The Jazz Showcase in Chicago, the 50yard line of Ralph Wilson Stadium and the steps of the United States Capitol.
