Junior Samantha Sayers, a B.F.A. major in Theatrical Production and Design, is one of ten finalists from graduate and undergraduate schools across the nation in the Rose Brand Scholarship contest, sponsored by North America’s largest theatrical fabric and fabrication company.
Sayers was selected after submitting several drawings and pictures, including some from her preliminary work on the Theatre and Dance department's production of High Plains Fandango.
The Rose Brand Scholarship is awarded to a student in the amount of $5,000, and comes with another $2,500 in Rose Brand merchandise credit for the student’s theater program. The scholarship is intended for students who are preparing for careers in scenic design, theater technical direction, or scenic art.
The winner of the scholarship will be announced this year at the USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) Conference in Long Beach, Ca., March 29.
Prior to the event, the ten finalists will be judged by a panel of high profile experts in the industry: scenic designer and Tony Award nominee Anna Louizos; the CEO of Hudson Scenic Neil Mazella; scenic designer and Tony Award nominee Beowulf Boritt; and production designer and Emmy Award winnerJoe Stewart.
