Local music lovers can feast their ears on magnificent chamber works performed by some of the world’s most talented young artists as The Quartet Program launches its second summer in residence at SUNY Fredonia.
The Quartet Program, now in its 38th season, is a seven-week workshop that brings together 36 gifted and accomplished string players, ages 14 to 30.
The Quartet Program’s 2007 regular concert season begins with a weekend of quartet and sonata concerts June 28-30. The internationally renowned Lafayette Quartet opens the season with a special guest artist recital on June 22, performing works by Haydn, Schubert and Schafer. All concerts take place at Mason Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus.
Concerts by the participants and guest artists will be presented in Juliet Rosch Recital Hall and in Diers Recital Hall in three time periods: June 28-30, July 6-9, and July 25-28. Admission is with a recommended contribution of $5 for participant concerts. Memberships (which include a season pass to all concerts) are $100 for a Patron or $75 for a Friend. A season pass is also available for $50.
The participants will also perform free concerts in the community. Venues will include Reed Library, Crino’s Music in Dunkirk, and Intermezzo’s Café in Fredonia, as well as several other Chautauqua County locations.
