A special program exclusively dedication to theater combat scenes will be presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance as way to raise money for the department’s scholarship fund.
“Night of the Fights” will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Bartlett Theatre at Rockefeller Arts Center. The 90-minute program will feature combat scenes from various genres with a variety of weaponry. Six different weapons will be included.
The event was organized by Theatre student Tom Buckley and Hannah Roccisano, a recent graduate.
“We are really excited about (stage combat) and wanted to do an event for the sheer fun of it,” Roccisano said. “We usually perform for adjudication and we wanted to do a performance without that pressure. We are both very big advocates of the department and wanted to do something for it. That’s where the scholarship benefit came in Buckley said they are also trying to raise awareness about the possibility of a new minor in stage combat and movement.
“We thought this event would be a great way to show that there are tons of students interested in the art of stage combat,” he said. “With that in mind, we decided to donate all the proceeds from this event to the Department of Theatre and Dance scholarship fund.
Tickets are available for a minimum donation of $3 each. They may be purchased in advance at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center and by phone at 716-673-3501. All proceeds benefit the Department of Theatre and Dance scholarship fund. Additional donations will also be accepted at the event.
