On Friday, Nov. 12, the SUNY Fredonia women’s sorority, Sigma Kappa, will host the second annual Tuggin’ for Tots event on the field behind Nixon Hall at 5:30 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Jamestown Toys for Tots organization. Tuggin’ for Tots will consist of a tug-of-war competition between two groups of five, split into men’s and women’s teams. The competition is open to the community and to student clubs, organizations, faculty, and staff. Come rain, sleet, or snow, the competition will go on!

The first place “tuggers” on the men’s and women’s teams will receive a gift certificate to a local restaurant and bragging rights until next year’s competition. Registration is $10 for teams of five and will be held Nov. 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Williams Center. For more information, contact Sigma Kappa Executive Vice President Emily Bird at (607) 341-0423 or via email.

All proceeds will benefit the local Jamestown Toys for Tots Program which collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December to distribute as Christmas gifts to underprivileged children in our community. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program was started in 1947 and has grown as the largest outreach program in the Department of Defense.
