The Women’s Studies Program will sponsor the Women Take Aim Film Series this fall, with the first movie slated for Tuesday, Oct. 30. A new addition this year has the filmmaker attending the viewing of each documentary and leading discussion about the film. All films will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on selected Tuesdays in Fenton Hall Room 105. The film screenings are free and the public is invited to attend.
Films will include:
- Tuesday, Oct. 30, Zero Degrees of Separation," directed by Elle Flanders. The film looks at the Middle East conflict and the Palestinian Occupation through the eyes of Palestinian and Israeli gay and lesbian couples.
- Tuesday, Nov. 6, "Maria's Grotto," directed by Buthina Canaan Khoury. The film explores honor killings. Although this is a fate that many Middle Eastern women face, it is still considered a taboo subject.
- Tuesday, Nov. 13,"Period: The End of Menstruation?" directed by Giovanna Chesler. In the film, Ms. Chesler discusses the trends surrounding birth control that allow women and young girls to stop their periods for months and years at a time.
